What do I bring for my swimmer
for swim meets
Towels, Team Suit, Goggles, and Team Cap
Warm sweatshirt or the team parka since
it may be chilly while they wait to swim their events
Deck Chair - There is no seating on the deck for
the kids. We are planning on bringing the tent, but depending
on how cold it is outside, we may not be setting it
up.
Sharpie markers and a Highlighter- please make
sure that when you get to the meet, you purchase a heat
sheet. Highlight your child’s events and mark their
arms with the HEAT, EVENT, LANE AND STROKE THEY ARE
SWIMMING. This is how the kids learn to follow the
meet. Heat sheets are sold right out in the hallway before
you enter the parent seating area.
Bleacher seat - this is for you. It is a long
wait and your bottom will be thankful! They sell these in
Walmart and they are invaluable. You can even find some with
pockets for the storage of all of your markers and heat
sheets.
Extra Money - Augusta swim wear will be
there. You know that they will find something they cannot
live without!
Bull Pen Moms - if there is anyone who will be
attending the morning session that would be willing to be a Bull
Pen Mom, please let us know. We would like two, one for the
boys and one for the girls. They are in charge of making sure
that the swimmer is behind the block before their swim.
Parents are not allowed on the deck. This is strictly
inforced. Your swimmer may come up to you, but please keep in
mind that the coaches would prefer that they remain on the deck in
the area that they have designated on the pool deck. It
makes it easier for them to locate the swimmer prior to their
swim. Please also encourage your swimmer to talk to their
coach before and after they swim.
Snacks & Drinks - The coaches encourage the
kids to drink plenty of water before, during and after they
swim. Please makes sure they have that on hand. They
may also like Gatorade. Please also send your swimmer
with some snacks, Powerbars, granola bars, goldfish, bagels, cereal
are all things that are healthy and good for them to eat while they
are waiting to swim. Please do not send your swimmer with
candy.
Warm-ups - Coach Jack will send out an e-mail
when he gets home about what time the morning warm-ups for the 12
and unders and the after noon warm-ups for the 13 and ups as soon
as he can. He will also determine the color of the shirts for
the days. Please look for that in the next few
days.
